Highlights of 2016

Farewell, 2016!

As the year of 2016 has just come to a close, we look back on our most notable works during the past year. In no particular order, let’s review the best picks of Weave’s journey in 2016.

Thailand Case Study | PHILIPS

Using a heartfelt story of a warehouse worker and his manager set in Thailand, we tell the story of how Philips LED lights become a hero and saves the day for both characters. This short film is a creative corporate video that was shot in Thailand, with a full Thai cast.

Director: Mick Tan
Producer: Karen Wong
Writer: Lena Goh
Editor: Danial Razak

Lighting Has Changed | PHILIPS

Lighting Has Changed creative ad campaign video was inspired by the rube Goldberg machine to take us through the different Philips lights across the years, including some of their more modern and exciting products that are highly relevant for practical use in society.

Director/Writer: Samuel He
Producer: Karen Wong
Art Assts: Beaunice Toh, Gan Jia Ai

Another short narrative film idea for an ad campaign that aims to prompt the public to respond even in the simplest ways to intervene domestic violence, carrying out their roles as good neighbors. This video basically sums up the idea that anyone can help – even in the smallest ways – as long as we have the heart to. #breakthesilenceDirector/Writer: Samuel He

It Takes A Village | ECDA

A mildly dramatic, heartfelt story about a young early childhood educator who may be new on the job, but she gives her best efforts to rebuilding the trust of a student’s parent and setting herself in the right direction. This is a beautifully shot corporate video that exudes pleasant vibes.

SilverArts 2016 is a corporate video that’s part of National Art Council’s ad campaign for the programme, and features different profiles with different interests within the arts, and how each one of it uses art as a form of expression and added meaningfulness to their golden years.

Director: Mick Tan
Producer: Amrit Kaur Jastol
Writer: Lena Goh

Lighting Has Changed | Philips

With lighting being an integral part of our life, we were excited to be a part of Philips Lighting’s new corporate video, “Lighting Has Changed”.

For this shoot, we had to build a set from scratch to showcase the wide range of lighting Philips had to offer. There were a lot of sweat and tears as our art department worked through 2 days to assemble and rig the lights.

BTS Set Up

BTS with Sam

While we had the most fun stacking the dominos, with our clumsy “paws” and people huddled around the set, an accidental bump usually resulted in a ‘domino effect’ leading to many a collected sighs.

Nonetheless, it was a fun and memorable shoot for our video team!

Check out the video here!

CNY ‘Chope’ | NTUC Warehouse Club

Happy 2016! A brand new year brings exciting new projects, and here’s one fresh out of the oven.

With Chinese New Year just around the corner, we worked on this fun web commercial for NTUC Warehouse Club:

We shot this video inside NTUC Fairprice’s Warehouse Club at Joo Koon, a huge and spacious warehouse-type supermarket. Befitting the CNY shopping madness, the kiasu Auntie will probably be a familiar sight this festive season. We had the joy of having James and Hayley on set with us. Hayley definitely nailed the kiasu, kiasee Auntie role!

Here’s some group photos we took on set:

Community Quilts | SG50

Supported by the SG50 Celebration Fund, we worked together with local photographers Ivan Tan and Juliana Tan on the “Community Quilts” project to celebrate Singapore’s 50th year of independence.

Community Quilts - Weave Rochor_72dpi

The project highlights Singapore’s heritage by featuring residents against iconic backdrops in their neighbourhoods. Each series is made up of eight panels, and each panel consists of three to four photographs of various subjects superimposed onto each other. The photographs were taken at different locations around Singapore, including a void deck at Hougang, streets along Tiong Bahru and Koon Seng Road, Yishun Swimming Complex, Orchard MRT station, and Bedok Jetty. The panels are then further weaved together into a seamless whole.

A total of eight fully-weaved photographs have been on exhibition at Rochor Centre since December 2014.

A Gift of Song | POSB

Merry Christmas from all of us at Weave!

Join in the Christmas fun and check out “A Gift of Song”, a corporate video we created as part of the NeighboursFirst.sg project for POSB with some of Singapore’s street buskers:

You can find musical talent all around the neighbourhood and this includes our street buskers. They’ve been providing us musical entertainment in the streets and throughout the years, the neighbourhood has extended support to them in small ways. But these random acts of kindness mean a lot to them.

‘Tis the season for giving and neighbourhood buskers Casey, Joyce, and Uncle Robert are sharing their gift of song with us! In return for the support they’ve been receiving in the streets, they are teaming up with local band Quickpick to deliver musical season’s greetings with this medley of Christmas carols! We appreciate the presence of homegrown groups like them in the local music scene and wish them years of inspiring performances ahead. Have a listen, and don’t forget to tip your friendly neighbourhood busker this Christmas!
